#CelebsAtPuja Arjun Chakraborty: Pampering my daughter in every possible way to make her feel the puja vibes
Are you tightening your belt to go for a fun-filled pandal-hopping or just want to skip all of it and go on a long-awaited holiday with your family and close ones? In this new series, we asked a few Tollywood celebs the same question and it seems almost all of them will stay in town and enjoy the five days of festivity and happiness with family, friends and close ones. There are also a lot to talk about as Durga Puja comes knocking on our doors. Be it fashion, food, childhood or teenage memories and last but not the least, the celeb views on Bangali’s favourite Puja prem – it’s a free-wheeling Puja adda with our very own Tollywood celebrities. In this new episode, we caught up with actor Arjun Chakraborty who is all too excited about his new release ‘Karnasubarner Guptodhon’ and at the same time plans to spend this pujo with family.
How was puja in your childhood days? Did you miss those days?
Arjun

In my childhood days, during Durga Puja we used to leave Kolkata for vacation with maa and baba. Both me and my brother used to spend puja in jungle vacation with parents. I first got the taste of Kolkata puja when I was a bit older. But there was no craze for pandal hopping. Even now, during puja we all come together and celebrate the 5 days of festivities at home and gorge in delicious dishes. There’s no diet restriction during puja. Although I am not a foodie person during pujo it all changes. Who doesn’t love great food in menu when we are celebrating the real essence of life!
How excited is your daughter? What’s your pujo plan this year?

My daughter Abantika is growing up now. Last two years due to the pandemic we took extra precaution. But this year it looks like she can understand the festive vibes and what pujo means to us. I was surprised to see how closely she was watching our abason’s pujo preparations. She is also mixing with friends and visiting the pandal. Even if we can’t do pandal-hopping at least we will go for a ride and she can watch the pandals from the car. I just want to give her the feeling of what we Bengalis call takur dekha.

How about puja shopping?

I am always willing to go for shopping for Abantika. I don’t like shopping for me. Whatever shopping I have done it’s for my wife and now our daughter. I love to buy her dresses after ample trial and selection and both Srija and me go together for Abantika’s shopping. In fact, I love everything that’s attached to her. This year Abantika has quite a lot of new dresses. We have bought some and she has received plenty of dresses from relatives. She is super excited to try out all these dresses.

Are you nervous about your Puja release ‘Karnasubarner Guptodhon’?

It feels great to see such craze for the Guptodhon franchise. It’s exactly the same just like we saw in the previous two films. I think Sona da, Abir and Jhinuk have become a part of almost every Bengali family. The trio celebrates festivals, life and intrigued by the smell of adventure and history just like any Bengali feels. It’s the right mix of a family entertainer. There will be hall visits, promotional activities but I will try to spend this pujo with family, especially for my daughter Abantika.
