Four-storey building collapses in Navi Mumbai, no casualties reported

Panic gripped Navi Mumbai's Kopar Khairane area after a four-storey building collapsed on Saturday night.

A four-storey building collapsed at Bonkode village in Kopar Khairane area of Navi Mumbai at around 10.30pm on Saturday night. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.

Most of the 32 people who lived in the building had gone out to work and the remaining eight people were coming out of the building when it collapsed. The fire brigade and emergency services personnel reached the spot for search and rescue operations. A few people in the building managed to rush out when the building started shaking.

"About 32 people staying there had come out before the collapse. The remaining 8 people were coming out of the building when it collapsed. They were evacuated immediately. Our team is engaged in the rescue work and an investigation is underway, "Purushottam Jadhav, fire officer, was quoted by ANI as saying.

Some families living in this building had moved to another place a few days ago, which averted a tragedy.
