Jharkhand: PLFI ultra held in Khunti, arms found in Chatra

RANCHI/CHATRA: A PLFI rebel was arrested in Khunti district on Saturday, while Chatra police recovered arms following an encounter with ultras.
Khunti superintendent of police (SP) Aman Kumar said, “PLFI commander Sanjay Gope alias Sanjay Tiger was arrested from Nagda forest under Jariagarh police station limits. Police received information that he was planning to meet his squad members in the forest area. A team was formed to nab him. We also recovered a country-made pistol, two cartridges, and four PLFI pamphlets from him.”
Police said at least 13 cases, including extortion, murder and attempt to murder, were registered against him in different police stations of Ranchi, Khunti, and Gumla districts.
Meanwhile, a gun battle took place between police and the ultras under Maoist regional commander Gautam Yadav and special area committee member Indal at Phata forest area under Jori police station limits in Huntergunj block of Chatra district on the Jharkhand-Bihar border. The Maoists managed to espace. The forces recovered Insas rifle, several rounds of bullets, mobile phones, wireless sets, from the spot. TNN
