JAIPUR: An unidentified bike-borne youth threw a chemical substance on two girls in Vatika village under the Sanganer Sadar police station area of Jaipur on Saturday.
DCP Jaipur (South) Yogesh Goyal told TOI that both girls were discharged from the hospital following treatment. Even as the forensic experts were called to the scene, the nature of the chemical remains unknown.
The police said that the incident took place sometime in the afternoon when a 21-year-old girl was walking from school to the library.
"The accused on the bike threw a chemical substance on the back of Akansha. He fled from there and about 500 metres, he threw the same substance on a 19-year-old girl," Goyal said.
Senior forensic scientific officer Abhay Pratap Singh and his team also arrived at the scene and collected samples for examination.
Police said that both girls don't know each other. "The girls had some rashes but no major injuries," said an official. Police said that once the nature of the chemical is identified, they will be able to track the accused.
"The girls reported that their clothes were drenched after the accused threw substance on them. They felt some burning sensation and had red rashes on skins," Goyal said. "The clothes of the girls got stiff after coming in contact with the chemical substance," he said, adding that the SHO of the Sanganer Sadar police station was sent to the spot and mobile FSL was also called to the scene.
Police have also spoken to the girls about the matter. They were scared after the incident and claimed they could not see the accused's face.
The sources in Jaipur police said that they have discovered the CCTVs of the incident. "The guy was on a bike and he sped off from there through the main road. We have alerted all police stations about the incident and shared the CCTV of the same," said an official.
