MANGALURU: Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport have seized a total 1,703 grams of 24 carat gold, valued at Rs 86.8 lakh, between September 25 and 30 from five male passengers.
The officials said it was seized from passengers native of Kasaragod, Bhatkal and
Thiruvananthapuram, who arrived from
Dubai and Muscat. The gold was smuggled using various modus operandi such as being concealed in paste/powder form in the smugglers’ rectum and as a colour-coated coil inside a mixer grinder. tnn
