Ludhiana vigilance bureau sends rice samples from mills for testing
Collected samples from different mills owned by accused Krishan Lal Dhoti Wala, Mahaveer Bansal and Anil Jail
LUDHIANA: The Ludhiana vigilance bureau on Friday collected samples from different mills owned by the accused Krishan Lal Dhoti Wala, Mahaveer Bansal and Anil Jail, in the alleged foodgrain scam. These samples will be sent to the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) for testing.
The VB has already arrested Krishan Lal Dotiwalla in the scam whereas Bansal and Jain had been nominated in the case but are yet to be arrested.
SSP (vigilance bureau) Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu said, "Teams of the bureau collected rice samples from stacks of Food Corporation of India (FCI) supplied by the mills owned by these three accused. As the bureau had recovered foodgrain sacks from the mill of Krishan Lal with stamps of UP government on it, we are probing if the rice smuggled from UP has been mixed with Punjab grain. These collected samples will be sent to the PAU for testing."
Apart from this, the bureau had also summoned a liquor trader Neeraj Kapoor in the case as he claimed to have close relations with the former Punjab food, civil supplies and consumer affairs minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu who had also been arrested and lodged in the jail.
