CRPF, ITBP get new chiefs
NEW DELHI: The Centre on Saturday appointed S L Thaosen, a 1988 batch IPS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre and currently DG, Sashastra Seema Bal with additional charge as DG of ITBP, as the DG of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Anish Dayal Singh, a Manipur cadre IPS officer of 1988 batch and presently working as special director in Intelligence Bureau, has been named as the DG of ITBP.
Thaosen was appointed as SSB chief on June 1 this year and given additional charge as DG, ITBP, months later in August following the superannuation of his predecessor Sanjay Arora.
The post of DG, SSB is likely to be held as additional charge by the DG of one of the Central para-military forces, TOI has learnt.
The post of DG, CRPF became vacant upon the retirement of incumbent Kuldiep Singh on September 30, 2022.
Born on November 6, 1963 in Haflong, Assam, Thaosen has served in various capacities with various forces including the Special Protection Group (SPG) that protects the Prime Minister and ex-prime ministers. A PhD from Ujjain University, he also served as a special DG in Border Security Force before moving to head the SSB. For the past two months, he has also been handling additional charge of ITBP, which mans the Indo-China border.
While Thaosen was named as DG, CRPF until his superannuation on 30.11.2023, Singh will remain ITBP chief until his retirement on 31.12.2024, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
