JAIPUR: Domestic air connectivity from Jaipur will improve this winter with several airlines launching new flights within the state and to major destinations in the country. From Saturday onwards, Vistara will have daily double flights to Mumbai. Spicejet will also be starting regular flights to tourist locations within the state like Jodhpur, Jaisalmer,
Udaipur.
“On Friday, Vistara started it commercial operation from Jaipur international airport. The airlines will connect Jaipur with Mumbai twice a day. The first flight of Vistara landed at Jaipur Airport at 13:30 hours and it was given water cannon salute at taxi way. This will help increase connectivity and convenience for passengers with double daily flights,” said an official spokesperson from Jaipur airport.
Before the landing of the first flight, the airline counters were inaugurated inside Terminal 2 building by Vishnu Mohan Jha, chief airport officer. The first flight will take off from Jaipur at 2:05pm and land in Mumbai at 4:05pm and second will take off at 8:45pm from Jaipur and land at 10:50pm.
From Saturday, with the winter schedule being implemented at the Jaipur International Airport, officials said that passenger traffic is likely to increase too.
“Passenger traffic is usually high during winters as it is the peak tourist season in Rajasthan and with additional flights by airlines even within the state, we are expecting high passenger traffic this year,” said officials.
During the tourist season, the Jaipur Airport witnesses up to 15,000 passenger traffic in a single day, said officials. This year, officials are expecting the number to increase as many weddings are also likely to take place in the state with bookings being made in advance after the pandemic.
