Bengaluru: Overcharging private buses warned of legal action

BENGALURU: Private bus operators cannot charge more than the fixed fare on their routes during the festive season, transport minister B Sriramulu said on Friday.
He said legal action would be taken against those violating the rule and route permit would also be revoked. In case travellers are charged excess fare, they can call the helpline numbers 94498 63429 or 94498 63426. There have been increasing complaints of passengers being overcharged. The department has set up 10 special teams to keep tabs on private operators.
In Bengaluru, private buses operate out of Kalasipalya, Majestic, Shanthinagar and Mysuru Road, among other bus stations.
