Abhijeet Bangar appointed city’s municipal chief
Thane: The newly appointed Thane Muncipal Commissioner and administrator Abhijeet Bangar wants an overall development of Thane city including improving civic facilities and easing traffic snarls here with active support from citizens.
Bangar who took charge as the civic commissioner and administrator on Friday afternoon from the outgoing chief Dr Vipin Sharma is from the 2008 IAS batch.
Bangar was speaking informally to the media on Friday afternoon
“Thane has its own identity and like any other city, it has its own set of challenges and opportunities and I would like to capitalize on the latter. I have just taken charge so I may not be able to speak much about the challenges but will surely address the traffic congestion spots one by one along with waste management and improving the green cover,” he told the media.
Speaking about working in the chief minister Eknath Shinde’s city, he said it would be an advantage as the CM has a vision and his vast experience and knowledge of the city will help improve the infrastructure of the city. Bangar who was the Navi Mumbai municipal chief before being assigned as the Thane civic chief has held crucial responsibilities in various parts of this state. He is known for taking up several developmental works and good Covid management in Navi Mumbai during his tenure.
