Green panel to inspect dump yard

Coimbatore: National Green Tribunal (NGT) southern zone regional monitoring committee chairman P Jyothimani will soon inspect the progress made by the city corporation in safe disposal of garbage.
The committee will hold a sitting on October 6 and inspect the Vellalore solid waste management centre the next day. The chairman will check the progress made by the civic body in connection with the order pronounced by NGT in 2018 to shift the dump yard from Vellalore and follow the procedures laid down in the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016. NGT had also ordered the corporation to remove legacy waste dumped there, in a case filed by politicians and residents.TNN
