Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court judge Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh has been transferred to the
Tripura high court and he will be replaced by Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra of the Uttarakhand high court. The decision was taken by the Supreme Court collegium on September 28 in Delhi.
Justice Singh is the seniormost judge in Jharkhand HC after Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan. Justice Singh was elevated from the bar and started his practice as an advocate in the Patna high court in 1990. A law graduate from the Delhi University, Justice Singh shifted his practice in Ranchi in 2001 after the formation of the Jharkhand high court. He was appointed as a judge of the Jharkhand high court on January 24, 2012.
He is an expert in constitutional and tax matters and dealt with fodder scam cases. He held the office of executive chairman of the Jharkhand Legal Services Authority(Jhalsa). Justice Singh was instrumental in guiding the Jhalsa to work for the benefit of people and played an active role to help migrant labourers during Covid times.
Meanwhile, Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra, originally from the Orissa high court, was transferred to the Uttrakhand HC in October 2001. He had also started his career as a lawyer working under his father Markanda Mishra in the Bolangir district court of Odisha.
Justice Mishra had appeared for the district court recruitment examination in Odisha and secured the first position on the merit list. He was appointed as an additional district and sessions judge in February 1999 and later elevated as a judge of the Orissa High Court in October 2009.
