Ludhiana: After a two-year-long hiatus due to
Covid, preparations are in full swing for the much awaited Food and Craft Mela to be held at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on October 11; showcasing delightful food, nutrition and handicraft intricacies by budding and established entrepreneurs, self-help groups and startups, trained by PAU and its KVKs in the state.
PAU extension education director
Ashok Kumar said, “The mela that was stalled for two years due to Covid, is expected to draw huge crowds, as before. And apart from getting a peep into the delectable l'affaire, the event is a major learning and information platform for all those looking at the business of food as a viable subsidiary occupation.”
PAU vice chancellor S S Gosal shared that the event would be inaugurated by Punjab governor Banwari Lal Purohit, and it will exhibit not just the products but also different PAU varieties and techniques used in the food manufacturing process. “Showcase of PAU accomplishments will be covered under one umbrella”, said Gosal, while urging the youth to mark the mela date and use the opportunity to learn and hone their skills for employment.
