SIT arrests former Bardez mamlatdar in land grab case

PANAJI: The special investigation team (SIT) probing land grab cases in the state arrested mamlatdar Rahul Desai on Thursday in connection with an alleged land grab case at Assagao.
A senior officer said that Desai helped the accused in land grabbing. The officer said that Desai was involved in doing wrong mutation for the land grabber.
Recently Desai was transferred to Mormugao from Mapusa.
A senior police officer said that the mamlatdar was in touch with the accused who had grabbed many properties in Bardez, including at Anjuna, Badem-Assagao and Parra.
