The Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India UU Lalit has recommended the elevation of Justice PB Varale of the Bombay High Court as the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court.
The collegium has also recommended transfer of Justice K Vinod Chandran of the Kerala High Court to the Bombay High Court.
Justice Varale, who is the senior-most judge at Bombay High Court, enrolled as an advocate in August 1985 practised under advocate SN Loya during his initial years. He also served as a lecturer at Ambedkar Law College in Aurangabad till 1992.
He was appointed a judge of the Bombay High Court on July 18, 2008.
Justice K Vinod Chandran of the Kerala High Court has been recommended to be transferred to the Bombay High Court.
Justice Chandran is the senior-most judge of the Kerala High Court.
He was elevated from the Bar as an Additional Judge of the Kerala High Court in November 2011. He was made a permanent judge of the Court on June 24, 2013.
