Bihar: Father of two tries to burn wife for opposing his illicit affair

PATNA: A man allegedly tried to burn his wife to death by pouring kerosene on her when she protested against his illicit relationship with other woman, at Nathnagar in Bhagalpur district on Thursday morning. The woman, somehow escaped, and reached the SSP’s office with her two kids and narrated her ordeal.
The incident took place when the victim Pushpa Devi had a scuffle with her husband Rajesh Kumar over his extramarital affair.
The woman alleged that her husband rarely comes home and beat her and their kids. She also said in her statement that panchayat meetings were also convened many times for their reconciliation, but he does not listen to anyone. He did not even give money for the education of their kids and household expenses.
Seeing the condition of the woman, Madhusudanpur police was called by the personnel at the SSP office. They were asked to take action by registering a complaint of the woman.
Mahesh, in-charge of Madhusudanpur OP, told this newspaper that a case has been registered around 6pm on the statement of the victim. “The matter is being investigated. The accused will be arrested soon,” he said.
