Ludhiana: Police on Wednesday evening arrested one of the two brothers for allegedly raping a woman.
Police said the accused, who were in their early 20s, lived in the same area as that of the “rape survivor” and did private jobs.
In her complaint, the 20-year-old woman said she got acquainted with one of the accused. On August 10, she was alone at home when the accused entered her house. She said coaxed her and forcibly had a physical relationship with her. The complainant told cops that the accused threatened her not to tell anything about the incident or she will have to face consequences. Afterwards, the brother of the accused started blackmailing her, claiming that he had her obscene photos.
The woman said on August 17, the accused took her to Chandigarh on the pretext of deleting her obscene photos from his mobile phone. She said the accused took her to a hotel there and forcibly made physical relations with her. The complainant later informed the police about the matter.
Later, police booked the accused under Sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.

Sanjeev Kumar said one of the accused has been arrested on Wednesday and a manhunt has been launched to nab other accused in the case.
