JMM planning to seek ban on Dubey’s Twitter account
Ranchi: JMM on Thursday said it is contemplating writing to Twitter, seeking a ban on the account of BJP’s Godda MP Nishikant Dubey for ‘spreading lies against chief minister Hemant Soren and misleading the state’s people’.
Party spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya lashed out at Dubey in the evening after Dubey posted a newspaper clipping on his Twitter handle earlier in the day, which claimed that members of the now banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) purchased 10,000 acres of land across Santhal-Pargana after marrying tribal girls in the area.
Tagging the official Twitter handles of Union home ministry, income tax, NIA and ED, Dubey wrote, “This is the dark truth of Jharkhand government: (PFI) flourishing even after the ban.”
Bhattacharya replied to Dubey’s claims and stated that the newspaper clipping was from 2018 when the BJP-led NDA government under Raghubar Das was in office. “The BJP is resorting to cheap political theatrics and Dubey has no political courtesy,” Bhattacharya said.
“Twitter should ban Dubey. We are talking to the IT cell of our party and are thinking of taking legal steps against him,” he added.
Over the past several months, Dubey has used Twitter to forecast the moves of ED in the illegal mining scam in which Soren’s constituency representative Pankaj Mishra was arrested. Dubey also broke the news on Twitter on EC’s notice to Soren and his MLA brother Basant Soren in the alleged office-of-profit case.
