Congress lost Jaipur zila pramukh seat due to MLA Solanki: Rathore
Jaipur: The loyal vs traitor battle between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot camps has been raging since the aborted CLP meeting on Sunday, embarrassing the ruling Congress further in the state.
After MLA Ved Prakash Solanki, a Pilot acolyte, called RTDC chairman Dharmendra Rathore, a Gehlot loyalist, a broker (dalal), Rathore on Thursday termed Solanki a traitor, accusing him of orchestrating Congress defeat in the Jaipur zila pramukh elections held last year. Rathore claimed Solanki made two elected members from his constituency vote for the BJP.
“I will provide proof on who is a traitor and who is loyal. It will be before everyone. Solanki had met BJP president Satish Poonia at a Jaipur hotel during the zila parishad election last year," Rathore, who is the RTDC chairman, said at a press conference here. Rathore then showed a video of Solanki and Poonia purportedly entering a hotel in city’s Mansarovar area and exiting a hotel room one after the other on the night before the election day on September 6, 2021. Rathore alleged that the duo had met to horse-trade Congress members just before the Jaipur zila parishad elections.
Despite Congress winning 27 seats in the 51-member parishad, BJP with just 24 members won the zila pramukh post with the support of two Congress rebels from Chaksu, the assembly constituency of Solanki.
Speaking at the same press conference, cabinet minister Govind Ram Meghwal, who was in-charge for zila parishad election held in 2021, told reporters that he had complained about MLA Solanki harming the party but Rajasthan in-charge Ajay Maken did not act on it. Meghwal said Solanki “betrayed” the party due to which the BJP won Zila Pramukh election in Jaipur.
