As per media sources, Ashok Gehlot has refused to leave the CM post, while Digvijay Singh will file nomination for party president

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has reached the 10 Janpath residence to meet Sonia Gandhi. Media sources said that Gehlot has refused to quit the chief minister's post before becoming the party president.
As per the sources, Mukul Wasnik had come to Gehlot with a message from the high command that he would have to announce his resignation from the post of Chief Minister before the nomination. But Gehlot refused to accept this condition, after which speculations started that the meeting of Sonia-Gehlot could be postponed, although it did not happen.
Meanwhile, it has been decided that senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh will contest for the post of Congress President. In Delhi on Thursday, he said, "I have come today to collect my nomination form (for the election of Congress President) and will probably fill it tomorrow." However, Lok Sabha member Shashi Tharoor will also file nomination for the post of Speaker on September 30.
According to the announced schedule for the election of Congress President, the notification was issued on September 22 and the process of filing nomination papers began on September 24, which will continue till September 30. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is October 8. In case of more than one candidate, voting will be held on October 17 and results will be declared on October 19.
