T20 WC: Taylor picks Oz, Tambe backs India
Bhubaneswar: Former New Zealand captain Ross Taylor picked hosts Australia as favourites to lift the T20 World Cup, to be held from October 16. “I think Australia will be one of the finalists. India and Pakistan are also in good form. These are the top three teams and obviously the Kiwis will be there,” said the 38-year-old right-handed batsman, who retired last year.
“This is a very open competition. Moreover, the Australian weather conditions will play a major role,” he added.
Veteran leg-spinner Pravin Tambe said he is quite confident of India winning the T20 World Cup. “India is one of the main contenders this time,” said Tambe, who is the highest wicket-taker in the Legends League Cricket.
Whether the shorter formats of the game are affecting one-day or Test cricket, the players said the craze for longer form of the game has reduced but as players they loved all its formats.
About the legends cricket, Taylor said, “It has provided them with an opportunity to play competitive cricket with many senior and veteran players. It is really amazing to find that cricket is still in them.”
