Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday announced a Diwali bonus of Rs 22,500 to employees of BMC and BEST and teachers while health workers will get a month’s salary as a bonus.

Due to CM’s announcement, BMC’s 93,000 employees, BEST’s 29,000 employees along with teachers and health workers will get the Diwali bonus.

Shinde praised the work done by the BMC employees during the coronavirus pandemic. ‘’Doctors, paramedics and other staff played a vital role in keeping the Covid19 situation in Mumbai under control. The expenses should be incurred on the development works but at the same time, good performers should also be encouraged. A balance has to be maintained between the development work and the welfare schemes of our employees. The citizens and employees are ours,’’ said the CM.

Shinde assured that the problems related to BMC development works and employees will be solved on a priority basis. ‘’Everyone should now work wholeheartedly for Mumbaikars and they should take care to ensure that the works of roads and infrastructure are of high quality as per the wishes of the citizens,’’ he noted.

Shinde asked the administration to hold a coordination meeting of various agencies to provide homes under Shram Safalya and Ashraya schemes for the Class 4 employees.
