2 arrested for Sahnewal factory robbery & murder
Ludhiana: The Ludhiana police have arrested two accused in the Sahnewal factory robbery and murder case. The police have seized a pickup van and a .32 bore revolver from the duo, identified as Paramjeet, 27, and Jatinder, 29 of Dharor village of Ludhiana.
On September 26, the duo, who drove pickup vans for transportation of goods, had drilled a hole in the wall of the factory and stolen sacks of nuts and bolts. But they were spotted while fleeing. The miscreants had opened fire when the nephew of the factory owner and their worker tried to stop them. One worker had suffered a bullet injury and died later.
Commissioner of police Kaustubh Sharma said the accused are drivers and would visit different factories to pick or drop their goods. Therefore, they were aware of several factories. The accused had chosen Jaspal Bangar area as it was an isolated place. At 12 midnight, they drilled a hole in the wall of the factory. Later, they returned around 4am and stole sacks of nut and bolts. Meanwhile, the worker and nephew of the factory owner saw them and tried to stop them.
The accused had opened at least six gunshots of which one hit worker Bhawani Bhikhi who died on the way to hospital.
