Night market gets 15k footfall, could become weekly affair
Jaipur: The trial run of the two-day night market at Jal Mahal in Jaipur received a good response with almost 15,000 people visiting the night market in one day, said officials.
On Monday, tickets sold out within two hours after which officials decided to add 5,000 additional tickets for Tuesday. Hundreds of people were seen waiting in line to enter the night market which had food stalls, performances, and various other shops. Locals waited for almost an hour to get tickets to enter the night market.
“On Monday, we got a very good response from people for the night market, which has given us the confidence that this can be turned into a weekly night market in Jaipur city. The entry tickets this time for the trial was priced at Rs 50 and we had kept 10,000 tickets, which got sold out within two hours. Around 5,000 people entered the market without ticket as the rush was so much and some people enjoyed from outside itself. For the second day, we have kept 5,000 additional tickets,” said K L Meena, executive engineer headquarters at JMC Heritage who is the nodal officer for the night market.
He further said that now the work orders will be issued for turning this trial into a weekly market in the city. The official said that the corporation is trying to start the weekly market by Diwali and will incorporate measures to ensure that JMC Heritage also earns revenue from the night market, as instructed by the mayor on Monday.
