PWD inspects pipeline at Vasco to identify source of leakages

Vasco: Following complaints of acute shortage of water, officials of the public works department (PWD) on Tuesday inspected a site near Masjid at New Vaddem to identify the source of the leakages in the underground water pipeline.
“PWD authorities have taken up digging work to locate the possibilities of leakages on the underground water pipeline, which is very old. We will check the valves in order to check the flow of water,” PWD assistant engineer Naresh Painginkar told TOI. He said that any leakages found would be plugged at the earliest so that adequate water supply is restored to the New Vaddem area.
Besides New Vaddem, residents of Cortalim, Zuarinagar, Vaddem Nagar, Chicalim, Shantinagar and surrounding areas have also been facing issues with water supply since August end.
Officials said that at times, taps run dry due to technical problems arising from power fluctuations. Some time ago, water supply from Selaulim was lower than regular, the official said.
