Hayden Panettiere opens up about giving daughter Kaya’s custody to her ex. Here’s what she said

In this week’s new episode of Red Table Talk on Facebook Watch, the 33-year-old actor Hayden Panettiere shared the truth about her daughter Kaya’s custody.

"Very upsetting" experience

She has opened up about her "very upsetting" experience to co-hosts Adrienne Banfield Norris, Jada Pinkett Smith and guest host Kelly Osbourne. It’s about relinquishing custody of her only child to Wladimir Klitschko, her ex.

In an exclusive RRT conversation clip, Panettiere says that signing the custody papers for her child was the "most heartbreaking thing" she had ever done in her life.

Banfield Norris asked Panettiere to clarify if she thought it was best that her daughter "be with her dad" during the agreement. In response, the actor said that if there had been enough conversation initiated from Klitschko’s side about the struggle she was in and what’s good for her daughter, she probably would have said, "Okay, that makes sense" with regards to the relinquishing of custody of her daughter.

What didn’t happen?

She continued that "it was very upsetting" because of how it was done. She further added that she thought once she worked on herself and got better, things would change and her daughter could come to her, but "that didn’t happen."

When the Nashville star was fighting an addiction to pills and alcohol in 2018, she made the heartbreaking decision to let Kaya go with boxing champion Klitschko, her father, to live in Ukraine, with whom the actor split that year.
