LUCKNOW: A class 11 student, suffering from asthma, allegedly committed suicide in his room on SGPGI campus on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
The deceased Vikas Kumar, 17, lived on SGPGI campus with his mother Satyaprabha, twin brother Vishal and an 11-year-old sister identified as Angel.
On Sunday night, he suffered a panic attack and was rushed to SGPGI emergency. He committed suicide after he was brought back home. Police did not recover any suicide note from his room.
The family is clueless why he ended his life. Satyaprabha, a staff nurse in SGPGI, was on duty when Vikas committed suicide. Vikas' parents had separated some years ago.
Vishal told TOI: "Mummy had gone for her duty. Angel, Vikas and I had dinner together and then he went to his room. He suffered a panic attack around 9pm due to asthma. We rushed him to the SGPGI emergency and around 11pm we came back with him after he was stable. I was sitting in another room with Angel. Vikas was in another room and was playing loud music.
"Around 1am when I went to the room, it was locked from inside. I kept knocking on the door but got no response. Then I called my neighbour for help and he broke the window of the room and found Vikas hanging. We broke open the door and entered but Vikas had died by then," said Vishal.
ADCP East Syed Ali Abbas said a police team reached the house on getting information and brought down the body. It was sent for postmortem.
