UP: Thrashed by teacher, Class X boy dies after 19 days in hospital

LUCKNOW: A class 10th student in Auraiya district of central UP died on Monday reportedly after being thrashed by his teacher at a government school. Reports said teacher Ashwini Singh kicked, punched and caned Nikhit Kumar belonging to Scheduled Caste over a mistake the student had made in a class test on September 7.

Nikhit Kumar (15) was a resident of Vaishali village and studied in Class X at Adarsh Inter College located in a town under the limits of Achhalda police station area in Auraiya. The teacher allegedly called out Nikhit and reprimanded him for a mistake that he had made in the test. The teacher then allegedly thrashed the student until he lost consciousness.

The boy was rushed to a private hospital but developed some problem in the respiratory tract. Doctors said he had suffered internal injuries. On Monday, Nikhit was referred to the Institute of Medical Sciences, Saifai, but he died in the ambulance before reaching Saifai.
