Wardha: Feeling betrayed by BJP’s prominent leaders, the Vidarbha Rajya Aghadi (VRA) has decided to enter the election fray from local body to Lok Sabha. The decision was taken by leaders of VRA at Sewagram on the 7th annual day meeting on Saturday.
Representatives from all the 11 districts of Vidarbha decided the further course of action for creation of a separate Vidarbha.
Addressing the gathering, Niraj Khandewale, working president of VRA, said, “We had supported BJP in the 2014 general elections after leaders like Nitin Gadkari, Devendra Fadnavis had given us written assurances on a non-judicial stamp paper, but we were betrayed. The time has come for us to contest elections at all levels, from local bodies to the Lok Sabha.”
This convention is being held for the first time at Sewagram Ashram. An attempt was made to convey a great message from the land of Mahatma Gandhi. “We will fight for a separate state of Vidarbha in a non-violent way,” said Chandrashekhar Badkuke, coordinator for VRA.
VRA contested the assembly elections in 2019, but got a lukewarm response.
Around 300 representatives from across Vidarbha attended the one-day event. All other leaders and officials of VRA were present at the event except founder Shrihari Aney as he was out of country for personal work.
