Tamil Nadu: Four people arrested for arson

COIMBATORE: The Erode police have arrested four people, including a member of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), for setting fire to a portion of a furniture shop run by BJP youth wing leader V Dakshinamurthy, on Thursday night. The arrested people were identified as SDPI member M Sadam Hussain, 25, of Karungalpalayam, and his friends A Ashik and 23, A Jaffar, 27, of Indira Nagar and L Kaleel Rahman, 28, of Karungalpalayam. Nine similar incidents were reported in the west zone since the night, including two incidents in Mettupalayam, five in Pollachi and two in Erode, inspector general of police R Sudhakar told reporters. “Using CCTV footage and other evidence, we arrested four people, who set fire to the furniture shop,” he added.
