Less than a week to go, race to complete Puja pandals
Guwahati: Preparations for a grand Durga Puja celebration picked up momentum on Sunday with Mahalaya, the day the goddess descends on earth, according to mythology.
People will have the experience of visiting Angkor Wat temple of Cambodia, which is known as largest religious monument in the world, as a puja committee has erected the pandal with the theme in the Bishnupur area while they can have a feeling of visiting Belur Math, the headquarters of Ramakrishna Mission in Kolkata, as a pandal has been erected with that theme in the city’s Lal Ganesh area.
The artisans are giving final touches to the pandals and idols. Around 400 pujas are being organised in the city. Last year, because of the Covid pandemic, just about 30% of the 400 committees organised the pujas, where they performed the rituals only.
