Despite the heavy showers in Delhi over the last three days, the overall rain deficit in the city is still around 22 per cent, according to data provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Delhi usually receives 539 mm of rain between June 1 and September 24, as per the data. This year, it received 419.3 mm of rain during this period, a deficit of 22 per cent. In 2021, Delhi received 413 mm of rain in September alone. “The three consecutive days of rain have not managed to wipe out the city’s monsoon rain deficit. The city saw a massive shortfall in June and August, but July received more rain than normal. Now, September has brought more than usual rain, but it has still not managed to make up for the shortfall,” said a senior IMD official.
Delhi Police has initiated an enquiry against the SHO and staff posted at Kotla Mubarakpur police station after a club in South Extension 1 alleged police were trying to extort money from them in connection with a brawl there on September 18. While a woman had alleged that she was sexually harassed and struck during the brawl, which broke out over admission to the club, the management had denied her claims and raised allegations against the police.
The Delhi Police Thursday arrested nine people, including eight Bangladeshi nationals, for allegedly forging passports and other documents to gain Indian citizenship. The police said the accused arrived at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport from Seychelles, South Africa, Nepal and other neighbouring countries Wednesday. The main accused, Debashish Chakraborty (52), is a resident of Kolkata who runs a nexus by providing Indian passports and forged visa documents to foreign nationals, the police said.

On Rajasthan's ongoing political turmoil, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal slammed BJP and Congress. He said "Ye dono party jod tod karti rehti hain (Both parties are involved in these activities only). There is one party which is doing people's politics, promising to give people free education, health, infrastructure, free electricity, water and other things. But these parties talk about buying MLAs and toppling elected government."

AAP doesn't wait for such opportunities, our party is known for its work and that is why people love us," Kejriwal said.
He added, "The whole country now only has faith and expectations from AAP. The country will not progress until every single person gets education, free health care facility, water, electricity and world calss infrastructure facility."
"It's a very proud moment for us. I still can't believe that I am standing here with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal sir.... feels like I am day dreaming with eyes open. In the last 75 years, no political leader invited a Dalit family to their house for lunch and dinner. He (Kejriwal) is the first leader in the country who invited a Dalit family to his house and had lunch together," Harsh Solanki said.
Harsh, who works as a safai karamchari in Gujarat, is in Delhi at the invitation of the CM.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, "Today Harsh Solanki and his family came to my house and we had lunch together. My family members and I are very happy, we all sat together and had lunch and had a lovely time..I am thankful to Solanki family for coming to my house from Gujarat. Next time, whenever I go to Ahmedabad, I will visit Harsh's house and meet the entire people in his community."
Harsh, who works as a safai karamchari in Gujarat, is in Delhi at the invitation of the CM.

The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested four members of the Rajesh Bawana gang who were allegedly planning to murder members of the rival Neeraj Bawana gang, officials said.

The relative humidity at 8:30 am was recorded at 93 per cent, according to the data shared by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The department has forecast partly cloudy skies during the day. The maximum temperature is expected to settle around 31 degrees Celsius.

Harsh Solanki and his family from Gujarat who have been invited by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to have lunch with him at his house in New Delhi on Monday, visited the Rajkiya Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in West Vinod Nagar.
"I am very happy to be here and the school is very beautiful and the infrastructure facilities is top level. I haven't seen such government school with great infrastructure and lot activities for children from poor family in Gujarat," said Harsh, who works as a safai karamchari in Gujarat.
After successfully completing the beautification work on a sample stretch, the Public Works Department (PWD) in Delhi is gearing up to redevelop and beautify the 8-kilometre-long stretch from Dhaula Kuan to Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
The PWD has floated tenders for the revamping and beautification of the stretch and the work is expected to be completed by November end. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,75,48,193. (Read More)
The water level in the Yamuna River in Delhi was flowing above the ‘warning’ level Monday morning on account of heavy rainfall in the basin states, said officials.
The water level at 8 am at the Old Railway Bridge was 204.7 metres which is above the warning level of 204.5 metre, but below the ‘danger’ mark of 205.33 metre. It is set to remain at around 204.7 metre till 11 am, according to a forecast issued by the Central Water Commission (CWC). (Read More)

Dengue cases in Gurgaon have witnessed a spike with the district reporting 125 cases so far. Over a third of these cases, 42, have been reported in the past two days while two-thirds of total cases were reported in the past one week, according to data from the district health department.

A Delhi court on Monday granted interim bail to actor Jacqueline Fernandez in a Rs 200 crore money laundering case against alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekar.
Special Judge Shailendra Malik granted Fernandez the relief on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and posted the matter for further hearing on October 22.
On August 31, predecessor judge Praveen Singh had taken cognizance of a supplementary charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate and asked Fernandez to appear before the court.
Fernandez, who was summoned by the ED several times in connection with the investigation, has been named as an accused for the first time in the supplementary charge sheet. (PTI)

Harsh is employed as a Safai Karmchari. He and his family, along with Gujarat AAP leader Gopal Italia, are expected to land at the Delhi airport at 10.30 am. They will be received at the airport by AAP MP Raghav Chadha.
