All councillors to get offices in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: City corporation commissioner M Prathap on Saturday unveiled the plans to construct offices for the ward councillors, who do not have one yet.
He said officials were instructed to prepare a report on the offices that were available for the councillors in 100 corporation wards and their stability status. Based on the report, he said, work would commence on the offices in the wards that lacked one.
“Around 50 councillors have an office, while more than 20 do not have one. The remaining buildings are either not in a usable condition or not being used. I have asked officials to check the stability of buildings that are not used by the councillors, so that they could be put into use after renovation,” Prathap said.
Steps would be taken to construct a few offices every month till all the 100 councillors got an office, he added.
