Conspiracy behind delay in arrests: Father
Thiruvananthapuram: Premanan, who was manhandled by five KSRTC employees at Kattakada bus depot in front of his daughter, has alleged a conspiracy behind the delay in arresting those who were involved in the incident. Police have not arrested a single person in the case even five days after the incident.
“I protest against the delay in the arrest despite the high court intervening in the case. I believe there is a conspiracy behind this delay,” said Premanan.
He also alleged that a social media campaign has begun against him and his family members from different quarters. “Even my family members have started receiving threat calls. I have decided to approach the chief minister and the state police chief for getting justice,” he said, adding that the children are worried over the social media campaign and calls they are getting from unknown persons.
Though police have slapped non-bailable charges against five KSRTC employees for manhandling Premanan, an employee of Poovachal grama panchayat, at the Kattakada bus depot, they are yet to be arrested. According to the police, they are unable to be traced since they have gone underground after switching off their mobiles.
The cases have been registered against station master A Muhammed Shereef, duty guard SR Suresh Kumar, conductor A Anil Kumar, assistant CP Milan and mechanic Ajith. KSRTC suspended all five employees on the day of the incident itself.
However, there are reports that all five accused are trying for anticipatory bail. The delay in the arrest of the accused has evoked severe criticism since there are reports that all five have the backing of trade unions. Hence political interference has delayed their arrests, it is alleged.
