Mink-to-human transmission has also been reported in Denmark, the Netherlands and elsewhere. Overall, transmission of the virus from animals to humans is believed to be rare. Humans are more likely to infect each other, rather than get it from animals.

Dahmer claimed to the police that the youngster was his 19-year-old partner and that he was drinking. The boy was eventually revealed to be the killer's 14-year-old victim, Konerak Sinthasomphone.

The report further said that Dahmer managed to kill five people after Cleveland made an effort to warn the authorities. Cleveland told the media that all she wanted was for things to "go back to normal" once Dahmer was taken into custody.
