Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Sunday agreed to summon the state Assembly for its third session on September 27. This comes days after the governor cancelled a special session approved by the cabinet and sought details of the legislative business to be taken up in the Assembly session.
Punjab Assembly speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan shared the information on Twitter and said the governor has given permission to convene a special session of the Legislative Assembly on September 27 at 11 am.

Earlier, chief minister Bhagwant Mann had lashed out at the governor and said the latter is doing "too much" for asking the details of the legislative business to be taken up in the assembly.
He said, "Governor or President consent before any session of the Legislature is a formality. In 75 years, no President or Governor ever asked for a list of Legislative business before calling a session. Legislative business is decided by BAC and speaker."
The governor had responded to Bhagwant Mann's remarks about him and said the chief minister is 'too much' angry with him. "I think your legal advisors aren't briefing adequately. Perhaps your opinion about me will change after reading provisions of Article 167 & 168 of the Constitution", he added.

The AAP had also hit out on the governor and accused him of acting like a school principal. AAP chief spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “The Punjab Governor isn’t some school principal, his behaviour is against the tenets of democracy. Such actions will lead to the end of democracy.”
