Jaipur: The Jaipur police on Saturday arrested five persons who abducted a youth after barging into his apartment in Jagatpura and demanded a ransom Rs 3 lakh.
Police listed the accused as Ravi Gurjar (20), Desh Raj (24), Dilkush (23), Amar Raj Gurjar (25), and Tulsiram Prajapat (25).
DCP (East) Rajeev Pachar said that the police also rescued the victim, Vinod Kumar from the captivity of the gang. He said that Vinod’s friends on Friday had filed an FIR at the Ramnagariya police station. They alleged that some unidentified persons had barged into their apartment, they thrashed Vinod and abducted him before fleeing.
The accused then demanded Rs 3 lakh for Vinod’s release and sent videos of the victim in their captivity. “We found that Tulsiram worked as cab driver and often ferried the victim and his friends. He shot videos and photos of the victim’s place,” said, Pachar, adding that the accused took Vinod to a secluded place in Tonk district where they tortured him. He said that a special team was constituted to track suspects.
“The initial investigation has revealed that Ravi Gurjar is the kingpin of the abduction gang. He has criminal record and he had walked out on bail just 10 days ago,” he said.
The Jaipur police said that the gang in the past was booked for drug peddling cases. The officials said that Vinod was also freed from the captivity from the accused. TNN
