Missing M’luru girls traced in Chennai
Mangaluru: Three I PUC students of a private college, reported missing after escaping from their hostel in the wee hours of Wednesday, were traced in Chennai on Friday. Mangaluru City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said on Saturday that a team of police officials led by ACP South sub-division Dinakar Shetty under the guidance of DCP (law & order) Anshu Kumar brought the girls safely to Mangaluru late Friday night.
The students reportedly escaped by bending the hostel’s window grille. The CCTV footage showed them jumping the compound wall, carrying bags and walking away. Police received information that they had gone towards the railway station. Four teams were formed and college authorities and parents were contacted. Shashi Kumar said preliminary investigation suggests the students were upset after they scored poor marks in the first unit test.
