New ICBM at coronavirus-defying parade

North Korea showed off a gigantic new intercontinental ballistic missile on Saturday that analysts described as the biggest of its kind in the world, as the nuclear-armed country defied the coronavirus threat with thousands of maskless troops taking part in a military parade.

A US aircraft carrier also approached South Korea to participate in joint drills along with South Korea to prepare for a planned visit of US Vice President Kamala Harris.

Earlier in June, North Korea had fired eight short-range missiles for conducting tests in a single day, leading to a UN sanction on the North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.

North Korea rejects the resolutions of the UN as they believe it is an infringement of its sovereignty of the right to self-defence and exploration of space. Reports stated that the South Korean Military saw North Korean activity preparing to test their artillery in Sinpo.
