Panaji: The process of recruiting 150 new government primary school teachers is under way, and it will ensure that each school at least has two teachers from November, chief minister Pramod Sawant said.
He also said that training will soon begin to upgrade teachers in teaching mathematics.
“Concepts in language and mathematics should be explained well at the primary school level itself. Then these children will not have difficulty once they reach higher classes. During Diwali or summer vacations, para teachers, English teachers and others will be trained to upgrade their skills. After knowing that Goan students have not performed well in mathematics in the National Achievement Survey, we have formed a panel of experts and will begin special training for maths teachers soon,” said Sawant.
He said that the process of taking off non-teaching duties allotted to teachers is also on.
“In most of the cases, we have taken up cancellation of BLO duties of teachers and all teachers will be free of these duties within the next two months,” said the CM.
He said that the Vidya Samiksha Kendre established in Goa recently will also help the state monitor performance of students and teachers and their attendance on a weekly basis.
“We will be able to receive reports once every seven or eight days sitting in Panaji,” said Sawant.
