Varanasi: The police convened a meeting with the vendors selling flowers, garlands and prasad around Shri Kashi Vishwanath temple at the Chowk police station on Saturday to discuss various issues.
It was resolved in the meeting that all shopkeepers selling flower garlands and prasad around the temple will have to decide a fair price list after mutual consent, on the basis of which flower garlands and prasad will be sold to the devotees. All the vendors will display the price list at their selling point for the convenience of the devotees.
The devotees will also be requested to pay according to the price list while buying the prasad and puja articles from the shopkeepers. All the shopkeepers were asked to behave politely and decently with the devotees for a good image of the city. It was also decided in the meeting that any case of child labour will be dealt with strictly and if any minor is found selling flowers and puja articles, then the shopkeeper responsible will have to face action as per the rules.
All the shopkeepers gave their consent on all the issues. The price list of articles will be made available in three days. The meeting was attended by the ACP Dashashwamedh, Avadhesh Pandey and SHO Chowk police station, Shivakant Mishra.
