JAIPUR: Houseful boards were back at the cinema halls across the state on Friday. On the occasion of National Cinema Day on Friday, the ticket prices were fixed at Rs 75 (except for recliners).
In order to lure movie buffs after Covid-19 and rising prices, the National Cinema Day was celebrated on Friday. Majority of the cinema halls witnessed housefull shows of various movies.
Cinema lovers thronged ticketing counters since morning. They enjoyed with their families and made optimum use of the opportunity.
“Things like Covid-19, penetration of OTT platform and weak content in Hindi cinema in past a few years has become a deterrent to cinema business. Thus, this idea of providing cheaper fares on a single day actually worked. It was good to see that shows were housefull. I think it is high time that the cinema hall owners in coordination with film distributors and producers sit and think about providing cheaper fare deals in some days,” said Raj Bansal, a leading film distributor and trade analyst of Rajasthan who was elated with the response films received on Friday.
Bansal added that something needs to be done to make cinema watching more affordable for the families and masses at large.
Since morning shows, people in huge numbers were seen at cinema halls to enjoy different movies.
“I am at the cinema hall to watch a film after March 2019 when I had watched Kesari. I think the cinema hall owners and film fraternity should make some result-oriented strategy to bring similar ideas to make the prices of cinema tickets more affordable,” said Daksh Tolani, a call centre employee who watched a morning show at Raj Mandir Cinema. Ashok Tanwar, manager of the theatre, said, “All the shows were houseful. We have received good response.”
