Woman, boyfriend arrested for murdering man in Chennai
CHENNAI: The Chennai city police arrested a woman conservancy worker and her boyfriend for murdering her ex-boyfriend in Virugambakkam on Friday.
The murdered man has been identified as Vijay, who was a painter. He was murdered by his ex-girlfriend, Soundarya, and her boyfriend, Prabhu, who is also a conservancy worker.
Soundarya was working as a contract worker in Zone-10 of the Greater Chennai Corporation. After being separated from her husband, Nagaraj, she lived in a house in Saligramam with her sons aged 8 and 10 years.
She befriended Vijay, who was a friend of her husband. Vijay started living with Soundarya. Vijay attacked Soundarya's sons as they often disturbed them when they were alone in the house. On hearing his, Soundarya got angry with Vijay and stopped talking to him. She then befriended Prabhu.
Vijay picked up a quarrel with Prabhu. Vijay, who was under the influence of alcohol, threatened to kill Prabhu.
In a fit of rage, Prabhu and Soundarya attacked Vijay and stabbed him on his neck with a knife, killing him.
On being informed, the Virugambakkam police arrived at the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) Hospital for postmortem.
The police registered a case. Prabhu and Soundarya were remanded in judicial custody.
