AIZAWL: Mizoram Police has asked people to be careful before taking up job offers from IT companies located in eastern border areas of
Myanmar in view of reports of many Indian workers getting duped and trapped in the neighbouring country.
A statement issued by the state police said shady IT companies were recruiting Indian workers from different places, through their recruiting agents, on the pretext of potential employment opportunities in the IT sector. "After initial recruitment, Indian workers are facilitated to enter Myanmar illegally without proper documentation leading to their entrapment," the statement added. It further said, "The general public is hereby cautioned to exercise due diligence and verify the antecedents of the recruiting agent(s) before taking up any employment abroad."
The state police issued the advisory after receiving reports from the Indian Consulate in Myanmar's Mandalay, a senior police official said.
