PATNA: CM Nitish Kumar’s bid for the opposition unity for the 2024 parliamentary elections is set to move to the next stage as he, along with chief ministers of all other opposition-ruled states, would address the public meeting to be organized as part of the CPI's five-day national convention at Vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh from October 14 to 18.
“Nitish has already given his consent to address the CPI’s 24th national convention at Vijaywada,” state CPI secretary Ram Naresh Pandey said, adding that deputy CM and RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav would also be invited. Similarly, the chief ministers of all other opposition-ruled states – like of
Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana and Rajasthan, among others – will also be invited to the party’s Vijaywada national convention.
Incidentally, while Nitish has already held the initial round of unity talks with the leaders of the parties concerned, he, along with RJD national chief Lalu Prasad, will meet Congress president
Sonia Gandhi on Sunday. This week, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury and former Union minister Sharad Yadav met Nitish to discuss the opposition unity against
BJP.
