Among his many admirers and fans, who have been mourning the demise of Raju Srivastava, is Dhananjay Kumar Pandey. The latter is into casting for TV shows and had known Srivastava for a long time. He says, “Raju bhaiyya was like an elder brother. Both of us hail from Uttar Pradesh and we bonded over our background, culture, and language. He guided me throughout when I started my journey as a casting director. He was instrumental in introducing me to important people. I will never forget his kindness. I’m saddened by the news of him leaving us. But he will always stay alive with his work.”

He reveals that Raju Srivastava has given his work to many new and struggling actors. He adds, “Raju bhaiyya was a man with a golden heart. He had been so selfless that he would give his own work to others in need. I remember I had finalised him for a TV show but instead of taking it up himself, he suggested that I cast another actor who was in need of work. Whenever I had to cast a comedy character, I use to sort a list and share it with him for his suggestion before sending it ahead to the production team. I remember during last Diwali, he called me and asked to get him a good role in a daily soap, as he wanted to explore the fiction genre, too.”

Raju Srivastava, passed away at the age of 58 on September 21 after being hospitalised for 41 days. He was admitted to AIIMS, Delhi, in August after he collapsed while working at a gym.
