NCP ready to contest assembly seats in Nagpur: Dilip Walse Patil
NAGPUR: Along with the upcoming civic polls, the NCP is ready to contest the assembly elections from the city, hinted former home minister Dilip Walse Patil on Friday during his visit to review the party’s functioning.
On raids by National Investigation Agency (NIA) and others on offices of Popular Front of India (PFI) across the country, Patil said, “The investigating agencies must have got some evidence about the alleged terror activities by the PFI and, therefore, the simultaneous raids.”
While interacting with the media, Walse Patil said it would be better if all three Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) constituents fight the polls together, otherwise NCP would contest on its own. The party already has one MLA in the district (Katol) — former home minister Anil Deshmukh, who is currently in jail.
Accompanied by city NCP chief Duneshwar Pethe, Shekhar Sawarbandhe, Prakash Gajbhiye, Ishwar Balbudhe, Praveen Kunte Patil, Walse-Patil said BJP was in power in Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) for the last one and half decades, but it failed to provide even basic facilities to the citizens.
“They (BJP) promised 24x7 water supply, which is yet to become a reality. We will present all such facts before the public. In Vidarbha, the party (BJP) has failed to bring industrial development and, therefore, unemployment is rising,” he said.
