Mysuru: A man is suspected to have died in a leopard attack in the border district of Chamarajanagar early on Friday. Forest officers, however, said without proper examination they can’t declare that the man has died due to an animal attack.
Govindaiah, 65, of KVN Doddi in Hanur taluk was found dead on Friday. A calf’s carcass too was found beside him. Villagers and family members are claiming that Govindaiah, who had gone to graze cattle in the field, was attacked and killed by a leopard. His mortal remains had injuries.
Chamarajanagar circle chief conservator of forests Upendra Pratap Singh said there was a report of a man’s death in Hanur and it is being examined carefully. “We will inform the cause of death after a medical examination,” the senior officer stated.
Authorities said that usually leopards which are shy animals attack only smaller animals. “We are investigating the incident to know the cause of death before concluding that the man died of a leopard attack,” they said.
