Heavy downpour poses problems for commuters, 3 killed in Allahabad
The heavy downpour on Friday threw lives of the denizens out of gear in Sangam City. Although the met department received fairly less amount of rainfall, which recorded just 3 millimeters of rainfall, the rest of the city received heavy rainfall.

Although the met department received fairly less amount of rainfall, which recorded just 3 millimeters of rainfall, the rest of the city received heavy rainfall. Because of the heavy downpour, commuters had a tough time driving on city streets.
At least three people including two teenagers were killed and two others sustained injuries in two separate cases of lightning in the district. Deaths were reported from villages Tiwara, Beli and Kathauli falling under Sadar and meja tehsils.
Commuters alleged that driving was more difficult to due to potholed roads. Waterlogging was reported from several areas of city, crossings, intersections and localities including Maharana Pratap crossing, Rajapur trisection, Civil Lines, Georgetown, Hotstuff crossing, Elgin road, Tagoretown, Sulemsarai, Ashok Nagar and many other areas. “Every time there were heavy rains, residents of low-lying and its adjoining areas suffer difficulties in commuting due towater logging” said a Salori resident adding, “Rainwater also enters the houses thereby causing trouble for families”.
Likewise, heavy downpour also affected the power supply of couple of localities of the city which went in dark for some time.
