KALYAN: The Thane collector on Thursday gave permission to the Eknath Shinde Shiv Sena faction's MLA Vishwanth Bhoir for Navratri celebrations at Durgadi fort temple in Kalyan.
Both Bhoir and Kalyan Shiv Sena city president Sachin Basare (from the Uddhav Thackeray faction) had demanded from the Thane collector and police for permission, for nine days beginning from September 25. Shiv Sena has for 53 years been celebrating Navratri, a tradition started by the party's founder Bal Thackeray. As per tradition, normally the party's Kalyan city president would apply for permission from the administration. Bhoir had earlier held the post of city president, which he lost when he sided with Shinde. Uddhav then gave the post to Basare.
